Middle‑earth Map
Regular Edition
$ 119
A large Middle‑earth map print in shaded relief, with the same artwork, size, scale, and detail as the Limited Edition, printed on a more economical matte paper.
This Regular Edition is made for those who want the full Middle‑earth Map as a large wall print, but do not need the signed and numbered cotton-paper edition. It uses the same artwork as the Limited Edition, at the same size and scale, with the same geography and detail.
The maps of Middle‑earth that most of us know from the books have always felt both wonderful and incomplete to me. They serve their purpose, and of course they have a beauty of their own, but beside the weight and detail of Tolkien’s stories they can feel a little bare. I wanted to make a map that gave Middle‑earth more of that same weight: something closer in feeling to a National Geographic map, as if this were a real landscape that had been surveyed and studied.
I first began working on a Middle‑earth map in 2014. It quickly became clear that the idea was more difficult than I had expected, and I eventually set it aside. Years later I returned to it and started again from the beginning. This version grew out of that second attempt.
Much of the work was in making the geography feel convincing without turning it into invention. I used many sources while making the map, with Tolkien’s annotated map as the most important authority. I did not add imagined places simply to make the map look richer. The aim was to stay as close as possible to the geography Tolkien gave us, while presenting it with more depth, scale, and physical presence than the familiar printed maps usually allow.
This is not a small reference print, but a map meant to live on the wall: large enough to read from a little distance, and detailed enough to invite closer study. The matte paper helps here. It avoids the hard reflections of glossy prints, so the map remains usable in ordinary rooms, even where the light is not perfect.
This Regular Edition is printed by me in my studio in Sweden on a smooth matte poster paper. It is sharp, detailed, and made with the same care as the Limited Edition, but the paper is different. It does not have quite the same depth in the darker tones, the same surface richness, or the same long-term archival qualities as the cotton paper. That difference is reflected in the price.
If you want the finest version I make, choose the Limited Edition. If you want the same full-size Middle‑earth Map on a more affordable paper, this Regular Edition may be the better choice.

“I cannot praise the Rinus maps highly enough! In a sense of lore, scale and geographical beauty, the maps of Middle-earth, Beleriand, the Shire and more are incredible! The Beleriand map in particular is one of the highest quality Beleriand maps to exist. As the lore YouTuber of the channel Men of the West, I really recommend these maps!”

Nicolas –
Rinus has produced a beautifully designed map with exceptional attention to detail. The typography, colors, and overall layout are both elegant and faithful to Tolkien’s world. I particularly love the National Geographic aspect of the design, which makes Middle-earth feel even more real and grounded. The print quality is excellent, and the map looks even better in person than online. I am very satisfied and would absolutely recommend it.
